Neodymium Magnets have strong magnetic pull force, but their brittle nature will cause them to break or chipped if 2 or more pieces get smashed together with high impact. Hence, slide them into a stack gently taking care not to let finger get nipped if the magnets are thick.

Small diameter magnets are great if you need to fit it in small spaces or tiny craft objects that are lightweight.

Dia. 10mm to Dia, 15mm
For general use, recommended diameter is from diameter 10mm onwards, thickness of 2mm and above is recommended if the magnets needs to pass thru papers or thin cardboard.

Dia. 15mm onwards
If your magnet usage has direct contact with metal surfaces, thickness of 1.5mm are perfect as they are strong yet slim.
For more heavy duty and you can choose to get slightly thicker ones if the objects are heavier, eg, remote controls etc.and if the magnetic field needs to pass thru cardboard or thin materials.

To separate a piece of neodymium magnet from a stack, slide the piece off the stack instead of trying to pull or pluck it off. You'll need to use less force to slide it and less risk of that piece slip and jump back to the stack, which may break on impact. : )
